PGBC, a non-profit making research and education institute to promote a better sustainable built environment through professional involvement, was formed in 2002 by Hong Kong Institute of Architects, Hong Kong Institution of Engineers, Hong Kong Institute of Landscape Architects and Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors.  Hong Kong Institute of Planners joined the PGBC in 2005.

The BEAM Society is the non-profit organization that owns and operates, on a self-financing basis, the Building Environmental Assessment Method (BEAM).  We oversee the on-going development and implementation of BEAM standards for building assessment, performance improvement, certification and labeling.  This is undertaken as an industry led, voluntary initiative to benefit the community.
